APPLE CRISP CHEESECAKE

CRUST
1 graham cracker crumb crust

CREAM CHEESE LAYER (layer #1)
8 ounces cream cheese
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla

APPLE LAYER (layer #2)
4 tablespoons butter
6 apples
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

TOPPING (layer #3)
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup walnuts

Melt butter over medium heat in skillet. Peel, core and slice apples. Add to skillet. Top with sugar, cinnamon and cook, stirring occasionally until apples begin to soften and sugar turns syrupy, about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Combine cream cheese, sugar, egg and vanilla in bowl of mixer and beat until well mixed. Spread mixture into crust.

Top cream cheese mixture with apples and syrup.

In a food processor combine all topping ingredients except walnuts and process until forms small chunks. Add walnuts and pulse until nuts become small pieces and mixture begins to stick together. Sprinkle mixture on top of apples.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until top begings to brown. Serve warm or room temp with or without vanilla ice cream.
